Austenland by Shannon Hale

I almost read this a while ago but changed my mind.  I picked it up on audio since the weather has been bad and extending my commute time.  This book is about Jane who is obsessed with Jane Austen novels and loves the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice.  She is so obsessed with it that it ruins all her relationships in her life because nobody ever measures up to Mr Darcy.  A rich aunt of hers dies and sends Jane on a vacation as her inheritance.  The resort she is sent to is a place where people pretend to be in the time period of Jane Austen.  The guests are surrounded with actors to help make the experience seem real.  Jane fights the urge to feel completely stupid and tries to use it as a way to face her obsession and get on with her life.  Things get interesting when the line between real and make believe is uncertain.  This book was actually pretty funny at parts.  Shannon Hale also writes a bunch of teen and young reader books but this is her only adult venture so far.  I recommend it to anyone with a fancy for Jane Austen novels or movies but even if you don't, it is still entertaining.
