I wanted to see this movie for a while now. Mainly for the costumes. It was okay, nothing impressive. It's about Georgiana who married the Duke of Devonshire at a very young age. She quickly realizes that the she is in a loveless marriage only made to ensure a male heir and that the Duke is not faithful to their marriage. After the Duke takes her best friend Bess as his mistress, Georgiana falls in love with someone else. When the affair is discovered, Georgiana is pregnant and forced to give up the child and her lover or risk never seeing her children again. It's sad to think about how little freedom women had at the time. I couldn't imagine being forced to live in the same house as my husband and his mistress, which is what she did until she died.
