Ever is a teen girl who has just survived a horrible accident that killed her entire family. After the accident she realizes she has a psychic ability that allows her to read people's minds and view their auras. Struggling with this new ability and the loss of her family, she hides behind baggy clothes and a loud music. Then one day the new boy comes to school and changes everything. She can't read his mind or see his aura, which usually only happens when the person is dead. As the book continues, Ever falls in love with the new boy, Damen, who turns out to be immortal. All this is complicated by another immortal named Drina, who is determined to destroy her.
I enjoyed this book, even if there were slight similarities to Twilight. It was also similar to the book Fallen in the fact that Ever turns out to be reincarnated over several centuries. I was shocked when there were 4 F-bombs dropped in just a few pages in the middle. This is a teen novel after all. It seems like even PG-13 movies don't have that many! I'll probably read at least the next book out of curiosity but it doesn't rank high on my reading list.
