The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls

This book probably took me the longest to read since I have been so busy lately and hadn't had time to actually sit and read. This book was very good. It's a biography about a lady growing up with crazy parents. Basically they'd move a lot because towns would get too "hot" and the gustapo and the FBI were after them according to their dad. One time they left town after an incident when the police tried to pull them over for a busted tail light and the father told them they had to loose the cops because the registration was expired and the plates were stolen. So he ditched the cops and hide the car in an empty garage. Other crazy stories included the time when their parents made them ride in the back of a Uhaul with the furniture and the doors flew open and they almost got sucked out; when they lived in Phoenix their parents left all the doors and windows wide open for air circulation, one night she woke up to someone touching her. It was a pervert who was following them to and from school. She yelled "pervert" and her brother ran into the room with a hatchet and scared the pervert off. They would go pervert hunting. When they told their parents, they still wouldn't close the doors and windows because they refused to live in fear. Later they lived in such poverty that the brother had to sleep under a tarp because the roof leaked over his bed, they had to use a yellow bucket in the kitchen as a toilet and empty it when it got full, also they would dig food out of the trash because there was none at home. It is amazing that these kids survived! There is a bit of language in the book but the story is amazing.
