Midnight Never Come, by Marie Brennan
This book is science fiction/fantasy. It is based in Elizabethan England and is fantasy mixed with history. Before Elizabeth I became queen she was locked in the tower fearing for her life against her sister Queen Mary. She makes a pact with a faerie woman to help each other gain their respective thrones in the mortal world and the world of the immortals. The story follows a faerie woman that is send into the mortal world as a spy and the mortal that she falls in love with. When both discover that the faerie queen made a pact that is harmful to both worlds, they try to find out the terms of the pact and break it. The faerie and mortal worlds are intertwined politically, it has them playing parts in the Spanish Armada, and even in the execution of the Queen of Scotland, Elizabeth's cousin. This is a new book that hasn't been published yet. Publishers send books to the store that we call Advanced Readers, and we can take them home for free or bring them back if we don't want to keep them. This book was confusing to me at first because it rattled off too many names at times leaving me thinking "what? who?" I'm a little slow. The first half of the book was kind of slow but got better once the action got going.
