The forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan

This book is similar to M. Night Shamalan's The Village.  A village is founded generations ago when the world is overrun by zombies.  The village is surrounded by a fence and forest which contains all the zombies.  The leaders of the village keep secrets from the villagers trying to protect them but it back fires when the zombies finally break through the fences.  The main character, Mary, struggles throughout the book.  She is told stories that have been passed down from her ancestors about the ocean and other things about the world.  She struggles to believe that there is nothing past the forest.  The book was good but I found it hard to believe that Mary was so obsessed with the ocean that she would risk her life and the lives of others in order to see it.  Apparently there is a sequel in the works.
